Supporting expert-led projects aimed at promoting the use of open data in business, science, and civic initiatives to foster Ukraine’s development
Open Data Ambassadors is a program that supports experts who will promote the use of open data in business, science, and civic initiatives to foster Ukraine’s development. Four selected ambassadors each received a grant to implement projects that popularize open data and strengthen its role in solving social challenges and combating corruption.
Open data is one of the strong assets of Ukraine’s digital transformation. Freely available and machine-readable data spanning healthcare, education, economics, theasets, from healthcare and education to economics, environment, and public administration, enable the creation of solutions that make governance more transparent, empower civic oversight, and stimulate innovation.
Yet expanding the culture of using open data requires not only government policy & support, but also leadership from professionals, activists, and innovators who can demonstrate its potential in action.
The Open Data Ambassadors program aims to empower leaders from different fields, including IT and data, business, civil society, and education, to advocate for open data through public activity and practical initiatives.
Ambassadors can:
- Implement projects based on open data or join lead ones to extend their impact.
- Conduct lectures, webinars, and educational events to spread knowledge.
- Launch civic engagement initiatives to involve communities in open data use.
- Develop information products, campaigns, or research that highlight the value of open data.
- Design their on unique formats to popularize open data in their professional domains.
Following a competitive selection process, four ambassadors were chosen to represent the program in 2024:
